Sam Sr. Loved His Bay Horse!

by Sam Jr.

During the 1990s, I asked Daddy’s best friend in high school and brother-in-law, Leo Cecil McAfee Sr., to tell me something he remembered about my Daddy.

The first thing he said to me was, “Sam loved his bay horse!”

Bay Horse
A bay is a red(ish) horse with a Black mane and tail and also black lower legs.

Uncle Cecil remembered Daddy riding his horse all over Harrison County, Texas, visiting family and friends in Scottsville, Waskom and Marshall. He also told me that when Daddy joined the Army in 1940, he began sending money home to his brother, Ardis, to care for his horse.
